In response to a brief that required the proposal of a sustainable business within the textile industry, cold magazine was born, merging previously developed skills in publication design and marketing with new skills in content creation and business thinking. Initially intended as a physical publication that shared local voices in sustainable clothing innovation, the exaggeration of covid-19 during the prototype stages resulted in a shift into the digital world, where coldmag.com (links externally) was born, along with an accompanying social media account (links externally). The video above showcases the process I went through in developing this magazine as a business concept.
While it was my familarity with publication design that inspired this project, I was still able to learn a lot in this process. I have always enjoyed writing for research, but I had never written editorial style content, let alone conducted an interview to get it, I could still definitely improve on my interview skills but this was a good starting place. In addition, my previous print design work focussed on the design of the publication, this project allowed me to focus on other aspects such as social media presence and marketing.
